The influence of various factors on the efficiency of sulfite oxidation has been experimentally established. The high efficiency of the horizontal apparatus with bucket-shaped dispersants for purification of exhaust SO2-containing gases has been confirmed. It is established that the implementation of this process in the countercurrent mode of phase movement will provide high degrees of capture (99.9… 100%) and liquid-phase oxidation (80… 99%) of SO2. It is determined that SO2 chemisorption occurs with high intensity and is described by the first order kinetic equation. Based on the obtained dependences, a two-stage technological scheme for purification of low-concentration SO2 exhaust gases was developed. It is highly efficient, simple in technological and hardware design, allows to achieve a high degree of purification (≥99.9%), and the SO2 content in purified gases does not exceed European environmental standards.
