The use of such a reference system creates the preconditions for a significant improvement of the mean field theories in describing the thermodynamic properties of ionic fluids. This is due to the fact that, as in the case of simple fluids we tested earlier, the energy amplitude of the molecular perturbation field is generated only by slowly varying long-range (outside the first coordination shell of each ion, and in the case of strong electrolytes outside the opposite sign ion cloud formed around each ion) part of the Coulomb attraction between different anions and cations.
