In particular, the SERS substrates were functionalized using specific monoclonal antibodies for rapid and efficient detection of bacteria. Characteristic bands of E. coli and P. aeruginosa antibodies have been identified, as well as bands by which they are distinguished, which may obviously be due to different amino acids in the composition of these antibodies. To understand the mechanisms of antibody enhancement and adsorption, a study was conducted to explore the adsorption features of amino acids (such as lysine and histidine), as well as salicylic acid on a modified SERS substrate. Also, conditions were established and surface functionalization of nanostructured gold SERS substrates was developed using specific aptamers (for example, the use of aptamers against E. coli and zearalenone) as an effective platform for detecting bacteria and mycotoxins in samples.
