Canadian spring lines DH31 and DH20 were used as sources of stem rust resistance genes. Molecular markers were used to select Sr33 gene carriers in winter hybrid material from families F5 from the DH31 x Mirhad crossing and F2 families from the DH20 x Mirhad cross. In order to create lines with Sr33 on different genetic background, hybridization of DHM103 line of soft wheat from crossing DH31 x Mirhad with modern winter variety Katrusya Odessa (selection variety of Breeding and Genetic Institute, Odessa) was performed and F1 grains were obtained.
