The subject of the research was to create a new modern textbook of the English language for the second year students in the field of 01 Education / Pedagogy of educational and professional program "Language and Literature (English)". The aim of the research topic was to analyze the pros and cons of existing English textbooks, identify ways to improve their effectiveness, prepare and publish a textbook for future teachers of English for the new Ukrainian school. To achieve this goal it was necessary to fulfill the following tasks: - to study the experience of Ukrainian and foreign researchers on the compilation of modern textbooks of foreign languages, including English; - clarify the content of such textbooks in accordance with the Standards and Guidelines for Quality Assurance in the European Higher Education Area, the European Recommendations on Language Education, state documents in the field of higher language vocational education and Council of Europe language teaching materials; - to specify and optimize the structure of the textbook in accordance with the needs of training of modern comprehensively developed highly qualified specialists in order to form in students professionally oriented communicative-cognitive competence.
