Resorption of corneal opacity was accelerated when using both ways of liposomal quercetin administration after degree II thermal burn of the cornea. In regard of reparative and anti-inflammatory actions, effects on indices which characterize lipid peroxidation and stabilization of cell membranes, liposomal quercetin subtenon injections had a more positive pharmacotherapeutic effect. According to ultrastructural studies, there was restoration and promotion of plastic material accumulation in corneal cells. On a model of degree II acid burn of the cornea in rabbits, liposomal quercetin subtenon injections and liposomal quercetin eye drop instillations were shown to have pronounced anti-inflammatory and anti-edematous effects, to stimulate regenerative processes, to accelerate restoration of corneal transparency as early as on day 7 of treatment. Post-traumatic reaction in the anterior eye to degree II acid burn of the cornea disappeared more quickly when using both liposomal quercetin subtenon injections and liposomal quercetin instillations as compared to controls, i.e. at Day 7 and 10 versus Day 14, respectively. In regard of reparative and anti-inflammatory effects, the restoration of corneal transparency and the impact on the indices which characterize the antioxidant action and redox processes in the tear fluid, liposomal quercetin subtenon injections were proved to have a greater pharmacotherapeutic effect as compared with instillations in a model of II degree corneal acid burn of rabbits.
