It is shown that electrons corresponding to different levels of the type III burst move at different speeds. In addition, their velocities decrease from a maximum value corresponding to 0.1 of the maximum flow of type III burst on its front edge to a minimum value corresponding to 0.1 of the maximum flow of type III burst on its trailing front. The electrons that correspond to the maximum burst flux of type III have a velocity of about 0.31 s. This value is equal to 0.6 of the maximum velocity, and this ratio was predicted by the gas-dynamic theory of electron propagation through the coronal plasma. In addition, we show that the electrons of the type III burst move through the coronal plasma in the Newkirk model, and the type III burst is the second harmonic. The duration of the dependence on the frequency obtained from observations is close to the Elgarai-Linstad dependence (1972). The contribution of the electron velocity variance to the duration of the type III burst is discussed.
