Skovorody popup.description2 Research report: 194 pages. The object of the research – the means of sustaining the diversity of biological systems. The subject of the research – the impact of anthropogenic factors on biodiversity (organismal level), artificial populations, morphological and functional organization of the digestive system. The problem to be solved. Due to the steady transformation of the environment the investigation of the natural and artificial ecosystems at different organizational levels of life is of vital importance for the understanding of the balanced functioning of such systems and for the protection of biodiversity. That underlies the necessity to make research both in natural environment with various levels of the anthropogenic load and in laboratory. The research was focused on insects, birds and mammals. The modern methods of the research were used for the work on the planned theme (both in natural environment and in laboratory). Among them were general scientific, well-established research methods of population ecology and technical entomology; statistical methods for estimation of the significance of the results; transect counts of birds; macro- and microscopic, morphometric, histological, histochemical methods. The obtained results on the species composition, habitat distribution and ecological traits of hemipterans and coleopterans within the megapolis enrich our knowledge on the formation of the fauna of the cities, help to identify the factors of the changes of the abundance of insects in cities and are the theoretical background for the development of the actions aimed at protection of biological diversity of transformed ecosystems. The obtained results can be used for the ongoing monitoring of the state of bird and mammal faunas aimed at predictive modeling and management of bird and bat populations with clear conservation implications. Key words: entomofauna, avifauna, mammal fauna, biodiversity, feeding ecology, digestive system, histological structure.
