Objective: To improve the results of surgical treatment of patients with mitral heart disease by improving the protocols for selecting optimal tactics for the use of various methods of its reconstruction. The work contains a theoretical substantiation and a practical solution to the current, in the field of medicine, the problem of evidence-based application and improvement of methods of surgical correction of acquired mitral valve defects. The work is the first domestic study devoted to a complete and comprehensive study of the problem of surgical intervention in the presence of acquired mitral valve defects. It aims to reduce mortality rates and improve the quality of care in Ukraine through the use of scientifically sound treatment of patients of all ages, which indicates its high relevance. Optimized protocols of preoperative examination, surgical treatment and postoperative observation of patients with various mitral valve defects based on evidence-based medicine were formed and approved, optimized protocols of treatment tactics were developed and the method of surgical correction was improved depending on preoperative and intraoperative structural data. A protocol for three-dimensional echocardiographic examination of postoperative patients has been developed. The inclusion of patients in the study according to the inclusion and exclusion criteria was continued. Retrospective data from 146 pediatric and adult patients who underwent plastic surgery on the mitral valve were analyzed.
