The rapid growth in the use of mobile broadband significantly increases the bandwidth requirements. The millimeter range is needed for 5G networks to achieve Gbps data rates, including 3D video services, and the use of 60GHz radio modules as street pickups will enhance existing cellular networks and increase bandwidth.Therefore, the study of the characteristics of this spectrum is an urgent task today. The aim of this paper is to present the results of the study of the characteristics of the millimeter-range radio line to provide high-speed user access to IP data networks and the possibility of using the IEEE 802.11ad standard in the open.The research was carried out using a test bench with a point-to-point topology, deployed in an urban environment (Kyiv) in the presence of direct visibility without significant obstacles. The research examined the possibility of using 60 GHz hardware technologies of the IEEE 802.11ad standard, which is used indoors, for applications in urban development.The use of a narrow antenna based on the antenna grille allows you to control the pattern to bypass small obstacles that block direct transmission, which reduces noise and receives / transmits a signal. Thus, an experimental test of the hardware capabilities of the IEEE 802.11ad standard was performed. Scenarios for the construction of a millimeter-range radio line under different weather conditions have been worked out.
