The object of research is the natural complexes on the territory of the Danube Biosphere Reserve (hereinafter DBZ). The aim of the work was to monitor the ecosystems of the DBZ, preserve the biological diversity of protected areas combined with the rational use of natural resources, to support the traditional economic activities of the local population in the interests of sustainable development of the Danube Delta region. The study of flora and fauna was carried out in accordance with generally accepted methods of geobotanical, hydrobiological, ichthyological, herpetological, ornithological and theriological research. During the work, materials were obtained on the impact on the territory of the Danube Biosphere Reserve of Navigation, permissible norms and conditions of reed thickets, the impact of regulated hydro-, phytomelioration and optimization of fisheries, regulated grazing and recreational tourism. Regular volumes of the "Chronicle of Nature" were prepared annually. The practical result of scientific research was the rationale for the rational use of natural resources and obtaining limits for the implementation of these works. The obtained results are used in their activities by nature users, local authorities, higher educational institutions, objects of the nature reserve fund of Ukraine, and other research institutions.
