Mechnikov National University popup.description2  The research is devoted to the development of scientific and practical bases of modification of vinyl polymers - polystyrene and polymethyl methacrylate - unsaturated -diketonates of metals by their chemical immobilization on polymer matrices in two ways: copolymerization of chelate monomers and complexation of salts. The influence of the modification method on the structure and properties of -diketone-containing polymers has been studied. It is shown that the inclusion of unsaturated -diketonate of transition metals in the composition of traditional polymers turns them into macroinitiators, on the basis of which further modification of such materials is possible by grafting to them the same or different monomer. It is possible to design branched macromolecules with adjustable number and length of branches. Polymers of chelates with some rare earth metals are able to exhibit luminescence, which opens wide prospects for the practical use of -diketonate-containing polymeric materials.
