The aim is to reveal the basic laws of art education development, based on national and European traditions and taking into account the needs of today. Scientific novelty of the obtained results: a systematic, holistic, scientifically substantiated description of the development of art education in Ukraine and its integration processes into the European space is presented. In addition, the methodological system is described and theoretical and methodological guidelines for the training of specialists in the artistic field of development of music competence-oriented learning are given; the prospects of further development of art education in institutions of higher art education are substantiated. The significance and practical application of the results lies in the fact that the obtained results allowed to determine the prospects for the functioning of the art education system, in particular special music educational institutions, taking into account modern social needs; to highlight the state of development of music and performance research; to open opportunities for acquiring practical skills during the internship on the basis of the profession of creative teams; to find out the features of the methodological system and to develop a holistic methodological system of music-pedagogical education for the formation of vocal and choral competencies.
