The essence and main criteria of the Cold War phenomenon as a specific structural feature of the bipolar international system are determined.It is concluded that the structure of international relations during the Cold War can be conditionally compared with the intersection of two antagonistic force fields, some areas of which were characterized by different elasticity and degree of influence and control by hegemonic states.
