The subject of research is the electromagnetic wave dynamics in klystron type multiharmonic FEL taking into account multiple three-wave parametric interactions. The work aims to establish the basic physical laws associated with the formation of powerful electromagnetic radiation with a wide frequency spectrum in the millimeter-infrared wavelength range by the multiharmonic klystron type FEL. Research methods are quasi-hydrodynamic equation, continuity equation, and Maxwell's equation. The method of averaged characteristics was used to solve motion problems and the continuity equation. The method of slowly varying amplitudes was used to solve the field problem. Standard numerical methods were also used. The quadratic nonlinear approximation analyzes the amplifying characteristics of single-stream superheterodyne FEL, which uses two mechanisms of electromagnetic signal amplification: the mechanism of parametric amplification of the electromagnetic wave using a traditional undulator with a transverse periodic-reversible magnetic field and an additional amplification mechanism using a longitudinal electrostatic undulator. The expression for the wave increment, which is associated with both the parametric instability of the transverse waves and the parametric instability of the longitudinal waves in the electrostatic undulator, is obtained and analyzed.
