The subject: the reflection of the historical development of Ukraine in domestic and foreign historiography. The purpose: to investigate and analyze the theoretical and methodological foundations of the development of historical thought in Ukraine throughout all chronological stages, the reflection of the problems of Ukrainian history in the historiography of other European countries, to involve these results in the process of professional training of historians in the conditions of the modern socio-political situation. Research methods: the method of historiographic knowledge, concrete search, critical, logical, biographical, comparative and chronological methods. Results and novelty: 1) researched and analyzed scientific historical thought in Ukraine and other countries; 2) the need to study and use the researched historiographic sources for an objective and comprehensive coverage of the historical development of Ukrainian lands is substantiated; 3) a circle of new historiographical sources and problems is defined; 4) the concept and content of scientific concepts presented in the researched sources regarding the historical past of Ukraine are clarified; 5) the method of search, analysis, translation of the studied historiographical sources and their introduction into scientific circulation has been developed; 6) the specific features and informative novelty of the studied historiographical sources are established; 7) the value of the historical information presented in the studied sources for the study of the historical development of Ukraine is proven. Significance and practical application: popularization and publication of research on the development of historical thought in Ukraine and deep understanding of the vision of the Ukrainian past by representatives of the intellectual forces of other nations of Europe will contribute to strengthening the intellectual and analytical potential of domestic specialists.
