Methods of research: analysis, synthesis, comparison, generalization; study of bibliographic sources; processing of scientific and project documentation; search for relevant photo materials; analysis of international practices in protecting monuments from moisture. Issues under detailed research: protection of architectural monuments from wetting as a result of the destructive influence of groundwater on the structure of buildings; preservation of the priceless heritage of the past for posterity. The study of the world practices in the design and installation of waterproofing structures, the increase in the volume of construction of underground structures of significant depth showed the need to change existing waterproofing design methods.
