WATER, MONITORING, POLLUTION, POLLUTION INDEX, SEA WATERS, AZOV SEA, CHERNOBYL EXCLUSION ZONE, UKRAINE, MILITARY ACTIONS The study object is the ecological state of the surface waters of the Azov Sea and the Chernobyl Exclusion Zone under the influence of active military actions. The purpose of the work is to evaluate the composition and quality of natural surface water samples according to the chemical index of water quality, to determine the ecological category of water and to summarize the ecological state and risks that characterize these natural water samples. Research methods – the selection of water samples was carried out by volunteers-activists, the composition of water samples was carried out by LLC "Ukrchimanaliz". In this study were calculated individual and group water pollution indices of the Azov Sea and the Chernobyl Exclusion Zone. According to the results of the assessments, the coastal water area of the Berdyansk city is the most polluted, with significant risks of losing the ecosystem to self-recovery. All the studied locations are not suitable (or significantly limited suitable) for the use of bodies of water for economic and sanitary, recreational and fishing using. Comprehensive environmental assessments of the water category revealed two zones of water pollution in the port of Berdyansk. The ecological risk for the studied areas waters of the Azov Sea is formed by chemical consumption of oxygen and the content of iron, manganese, cadmium, nickel and aluminum, and ammonium nitrogen.
