Purpose - to increase the resource and efficiency of vehicle components by making changes to the parts that take the main load. The theoretical and methodological basis of the work is a set of principles and methods of scientific research, which allow to consider promising methods for the introduction of qualitative changes in heavily loaded parts of cars to achieve better resource performance of both parts and components of cars as a whole, as well as to consider promising methods of strengthening the surfaces of parts by applying protective coatings to parts of cars operating in harsh conditions of constant wear. In the process of research used such scientific methods as system analysis, method of analysis and synthesis, mathematical modeling. The information base of the study were domestic and foreign sources of scientific and technical information (articles, monographs, abstracts, collections of scientific papers and scientific journals). The following tasks are set and solved in the work: the prospect of using surface protection methods to increase the resource of car mechanisms is considered; the methods of restoring the layers of car parts from steel 45 are investigated; metallographic methods for determining the state of structural transformations in the surface layers of car parts are considered; new promising types of materials for strengthening the surfaces of internal combustion engine parts are proposed; theoretical studies and development of optimal technological processes for restoring and changing the surface layer of the internal combustion engine parts of the car; proposed measures to reduce the impact of cars on the environment; investigated the phase composition, structure and kinetics of the formation of new promising protective coatings on the internal combustion engine parts.
