The purpose of the research is to develop a methodology for expert art historians and expert archaeologists, which will contribute to the improvement of the methodological foundations of conducting forensic art expert examinations of movable archaeological objects (artifacts). Research methods - general, separate, special. Theoretical and practical results - 1) a generalization of expert practice in Ukraine on this problem is provided; 2) signs were developed and criteria for determining the authenticity of objects under investigation and criteria for determining the presence of cultural value in movable archaeological objects were determined. Novelty - for the first time, a technique is being developed at the modern level of knowledge, which will determine the procedure for the study of artifacts, the algorithm of actions for determining their cultural value and value.
