Purpose: To development a complex of medical and organizational measures to improve the system of providing medical assistance to road accident victims; to improve the outcomes of treatment of long bone injuries after road accidents by substantiating the criteria of differentiated choice of methods of surgical and conservative treatments, and developing of effective rehabilitation technologies. Research methods and equipment: radiological, experimental and mathematical modeling, statistical. Theoretical and practical results: Practical recommendations for the tactics of treatment and rehabilitation of patients with long bone injuries have been developed; Questionnaires for studying the death of road accident victims and organizing the work of the emergency medical service to provide emergency assistance to road accident victims have been developed. Novelty: Complex nature of the changes that lead to complications after long bones fractures as a result of a road accident has been established; Design of the external fixation device, which allows replacing its modules without replacing the rods in the treatment of patients after traumatic injuries due to a road accidents has been improved; Preoperative planning techniques, including the use of 3D-visualization and the simulation of corrective intervention using real implants have been improved. Effectiveness of implementation: Obtained results can be used for further scientific research and development of reasonable treatment for patients with long bone fractures due to road accidents, which will improve treatment outcomes.
