Seropositivity against West Nile Virus (WNV) in wild birds, which are one of the natural reservoirs, is on average 3.13%-18.23%, and up to 33.33% in some species of wild birds. In Ukraine, the situation regarding the circulation of the WNV among animals and birds remains unknown, but at the same time, in 2021, 5 cases of the disease were registered in humans. According to various estimates, the infection rate of coronaviruses among wild birds is 0.17% - 24.4%. Samples of biological material were collected from wild birds during spring and autumn migration. In total 637 samples of biological material (cloacal and oral swabs, blood, feces) were collected from 309 individuals of wild birds of 26 species from 7 orders of 14 families. A phylogenetic analysis of avuloviruses of serotype 1, which were isolated from wild waterfowl in Ukraine in previous years, was carried out. All three isolates were found to belong to genotype I and were classified as subgenotype I.2. Despite the fact that the viruses were isolated in different years and from birds of different species, the nucleotide sequences of these viruses have demonstrated high similarity to each other between 99.22% - 99.70%. Two Ukrainian viruses are closely related to Nigerian virus, while a third virus is most similar to a virus from central Eurasia. Product Description popup.authors Bolotin Vitalii І.
