The main physical and mechanical properties of the coatings were measured. The intensity of wear during turning of hardened ХВГsteel was determined for coated tools, and the main influencing mechanisms of the protective coating on the stability of tools made from polycrystalline boron nitride were established. The stress-strain pattern of coated tool materials during processing of hardened ХВГsteel was investigated. New compositions of nano-layer nitride coatings with a multilayer structure were proposed for use, and their physical and mechanical properties were revealed.
