Its application should provide much simple technology for the creation of solar cells compared to the known semiconductor analogues. Using the methods of computer modelling the explanation of the bulk PV effect in the ferroelectric crystals as well as of the hydrostatic and uniaxial mechanical stresses of different signs influence on the PV interaction efficiency was proposed. It was shown that strain engineering can be regarded as a key enabling strategy for tuning and optimizing of PV properties of ferroelectrics which will allow making the efficiency of the solar cells based on them competitive with respect to commercial semiconductor analogues. The low temperature technology of manufacturing the transparent electrodes based on ITO films for application in solar cells was elaborated. The list of prospective candidate materials on the priority investigations of the photovoltaic effect and optimization of their photovoltaic properties has been formed with the purpose of creating solar cells on their basis.
