The purpose of the work – development the theoretical basis for obtaining a new class of functional binding materials for passive protection systems of nuclear power plants. Research methods – thermodynamic analysis, which is based on the determination of the predominant thermodynamically beneficial coexistence of target combinations of phases in the subsolidus structure of multicomponent subsystems; geometric-topological method of research of physico-chemical systems; processing and analysis of the obtained results. Thermodynamic constants for binary and ternary compounds, which are absent in the reference literature, were calculated and the database of thermodynamic data of compounds in the ternary systems CaО-BaО-Al2O3 and CaО-BaО-Fe2O3 was systematized. For the first time, thermodynamic calculations of probable formation reactions of the ternary compounds Ba3CaAl2O7, BaCa2Al8O15, BaCaAl4O8 and CaBaFe4O8 were fulfilled by calculating the value of the change in Gibbs free energy depending on temperature. In the CaO-BaO-Al2O3 and CaO-BaO-Fe2O3 ternary systems, the regions of compositions containing hydraulically active aluminates and ferrites of alkaline earth elements, which are characterized by high strength and protective properties against the action of gamma radiation, are determined as promising basis for sacrificial materials obtaining.
