Registration Date 27-12-2022 Organization V. Bakul Institute of superhard material of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine popup.description2  The sclerometer method and its suitability were analyzed to estimate the surface mechanical properties of materials. It was shown that the analysis of scanograms should be considered together with the indicators of the material structure and in thermodynamic interpretation. The method of multi-pass scratch testing has been improved to assess the surface layer strength, in particular, PVD coatings, which involves performing several passes of the indenter along the same track with a gradual increase of the load applied to the indenter. It was proposed to use the chymography method to identify areas with a damaged state of cutting tools. Materials with heat resistance of at least 1000 С were recommended for tools used in friction stir welding of steels. Experimental tools made of polycrystalline material based on cubic boron nitride have demonstrated high resistance when welding stainless steel 304. It was found that the grain sizes in the weld seam reduced by 2-3 times compared to the initial sizes in bulk metals. Product Description popup.authors Beshenar Mykola P. Hordiienko Olha I.
