More than 500 scientific papers, including theses, articles, monographs, sections of monographs, etc., were considered by the project executors. It was possible to systematize this colossal array of information, which is being done for the first time. Within the framework of geophysical research, the history of the study of archaeological monuments was considered due to the methods of geophysics and to trace the expediency and importance of the latter for the study of the past. The latest research conducted on the territory of Olbia by means of ground-penetrating radar and geomagnetic surveying, which made it possible to take a closer look at the issue of early urban development, was analyzed. According to the paleogeographic studies, it was possible to consider the natural and climatic conditions in which the colonization process took place on the territory of Olbia, which made it possible to consider the latter not only from the point of view of historical reconstruction of events, but also to understand the prerequisites that developed and influenced the choice of the location of the ancient monuments of the region, which is being considered. In addition, a separate aspect of the consideration was the study of the history of ancient pottery research in the Lower Buh River region during the early stages of urbanization. Local pottery production in the region under consideration appeared at the stage of development of urbanization processes, which helps in creating a comprehensive picture of the early stage of formation of the polis structure of the entire region.
