Kurdyumov of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine popup.description2  In the project, a methodology was developed and a stand was created for researching the electrical properties of thin-film tunnel system, when a probe acts as one of the metal elements of the system, which penetrates of the dielectric under the action of a load. This made it possible to study the electrical properties of the Fe/MgO/Fe system by changing the physical parameters of the contact, such as the area and thickness of the dielectric. According to the obtained conductivity results for the Fe/MgO/Fe system, the coefficients and regularities were determined, which made it possible to analytically calculate the current-voltage characteristics in a wide range of dielectric thickness and contact area. It was established that the resistance of the Fe/MgO/Fe tunnel system has a non-linear character depending on the thickness of the dielectric and increases by 3.32 times at each step of the MgO thickness (0.21 nm). An increase in the contact area leads to a linear decrease in the resistance of the Fe/MgO/Fe system, while preserving the value of the current density and bringing the experimental current-voltage characteristics closer to a linear dependence. This is due to the increased influence of local conduction regions associated with defects and impurity on the conductivity of the system. With the help of electrical breakdown of the dielectric, the thickness of the dielectric was determined for the obtained volt-ampere characteristics.
