The effective neuroprotective effect of moderate and deep hypothermia has been shown. A significant decrease in the release of glutamate from nerve terminals of the brain, stimulated by the activation of presynaptic ionotropic NMDA, AMPA and kainate receptors, was shown. The ability to correct (mitigate) hypothermia-induced reduction of NMDA-stimulated glutamate release from nerve terminals with levetiracetam has been demonstrated in order to reduce the side effects of moderate and deep hypothermia, which can be used under the conditions of long-term space missions. The additive neuroprotective effect of hypothermia and modulation of the physico-chemical properties of nerve cell membranes by changing their lipid composition, in particular, lowering the level of membrane cholesterol, has been proven. A new method of analyzing the toxicity of planetary dust particles is proposed. It was proved that the extracellular level of glutamate in preparations of nerve terminals significantly increased in the presence of model space carbon nanoparticles. It was shown that space carbon Fullerene C60 did not change the accumulation and extracellular level of glutamate in the nerve terminals of the brain, which indicates the absence of a harmful effect of this carbon component of planetary dust on glutamatergic neurotransmission.  Product Description popup.authors Borisov Arseniy A Dudarenko Marina Volodymyrivna Krisanova Natalia Valeriivna Paliienko Konstantin O.
