The purpose of the research is to study the Ukrainian language as a dynamic system developing under the inner laws, changes in the language structure determined by extralingual factors; to find out causes of stability of the speech elements, patterns and main tendencies of development of the national language. Main results. The results of the research subject are tracked on the following levels: 1) updated research methodology, including in sociolinguistics where Soviet totalitarianism language, language behavior and language resilience of the Ukrainians in different contexts, ideological global picture in Ukrainian lexicography of the Soviet period, as well as improvement of the instruments to analyze sentences on a formal and grammatical, semantic and syntactic and communication levels became the subject of the linguistic analysis; 2) theoretical comprehension of lexical and semantic and grammatical categories: multilevel means of verbalizing the personality semantics in the Ukrainian literary language were characterized; functional and categorical grammar was developed further in general and one of the gaps in syntactic relation theory was filled; specifics of formation, methods of development, semantic and structural organization and functioning of the Ukrainian vocabulary were demonstrated. The results of the research were implemented into the educational process and research work of the National University of Kyiv-Mohyla Academy.
