Research object: neurodegenerative changes in the brain of D. melanogaster; Drosophila survival under normal and starvation conditions; phenotypes of dystrophin mutants under the influence of taurine; mutations induced by food flavorings. The purpose of the work – to find out the parameters of survival, life expectancy and behavioral reactions in sws and Sod genes mutants of D. melanogaster under the effects of spermidine and metabolic stress; to find out the influence of taurine on the phenotype of dystrophin mutants; to find out the mutagenic activity of synthetic food flavorings. Research methods: genetic, histological, physiological, microscopy, cytogenetic. The results. An ambiguous effect of spermidine on locomotor activity, life span and the development of neurodegenerative changes in control and mutant sws1 and Sod1 lines were found. The effect depended on the concentration of the drug and the genotype of the individuals. Sws1 mutants were shown to be more sensitive to starvation than wild-type individuals, indicating a dependence of neurodegeneration on metabolic stress. The effect of 0.1% taurine only during larval and larval and adult feeding on the motor activity of dystrophin mutants DysDf//Tm6,Tb and wild type flies was analyzed. Taurine showed a negative effect on the motor activity index in both series of experiments. The possible genotoxic effect of Etol spice flavors «Horseradish 08003», «Curry 08061» and «Mint» was studied on several test systems – A. cepa, D. melanogaster, M. musculus.
