Registration Date 01-01-2023 Organization National Museum of Natural History National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine popup.description2  The species composition and paleobiogeographic features of the Late Badenian fish fauna of the Medobory-Tovtra reef structure (Khmelnytskyi Oblast) were discovered, 26 fish species were identified, among them 9 new to science. These data can be used to create a new exhibition concerning evolutionary history of the Central Paratethys at the NMNH. The possibility of using Holocene bird remains for paleoecological reconstructions has been established. The exhibition potential of the showcases of the "Birds" hall for thematic excursions dedicated to global climate change is shown. The experience is summarized and the basic principles of the formation of indexed biota checklists are developed in accordance with the tasks of their creation: nature protection, survey of natural resources or collections, systematic lists. On the example of the Felid family, a project of an inter-museum catalogue of collections of highly rare groups was developed with assessments of the representation of various species in the collections, identification of objects of the highest attention and formation of generalized samples for research. The scientific output of 17 employees of the Department of Zoology from the time of the creation of the museum to the present was analyzed. Data on 1,137 new taxa of various ranks, which were described by 14 museum employees: 14 genera, 4 subgenera, 1,033 species, and 86 subspecies are given. The collections of prominent naturalists (M. V. Charlemagne and O. B. Kistiakivsky) were studied, and their scientific heritage, consisting of collections and type series, which are particularly valuable, was analysed. Biomorphology, ecological and coenotic preference, distribution and population biology of alien species with high invasive potential Heracleum sosnowskyi, Ambrosia artemisiifolia, Cenchrus longispinus and Parthenoscisuus qunquefolia were studied.
