The purpose of research is to substantiate the possibility and effectiveness of the magnetohydrodynamic (MHD) system "own magnetic field of space debris object (SDO)– surrounding plasma" for cleaning the near-Earth space from SDO. Research methods: computational and experimental. Dependence of the time interval of the forced deorbiting of the SDO on its mass and orbit altitude is calculated. An experimental sample of a compact source of permanent magnetic field is developed and manufactured. The dependence of the MHD force that arises in the system "permanent magnetic field source - supersonic flow of rarefied plasma" on the density of charged particles and the mutual orientation of the vectors of the plasma flow velocity and magnetic field induction is determined. It is shown that the MHD force, which occurs during the interaction of an experimental source of a permanent magnetic field with the surrounding rarefied plasma, provides the forced deorbiting of the 100 to 1000 kg SDO from an orbit of the altitude 700 km to 100 km in 5 years. Obtained results are applicable to assess the possibility of creating the permanent magnetic field source, suitable by interacting with rarefied plasma flow to create a drag force capable to deorbit SDO from the Earth's ionosphere. The application is the development of procedures, parts of the technology of cleaning the near-Earth space from space debris by means of forced MHD deceleration in the Earth's ionosphere.
