Experimental data on the concentrations of stable cesium and strontium in collected soil (and their biologically available forms) and vegetation samples, agrochemical properties of the studied soils, transfer factors of cesium and strontium from soil to plants were obtained. A correlation between the transfer factors of stable cesium and strontium in plants and their corresponding radioactive isotopes was revealed. It has been proven that the analysis of the biological availability of stable isotopes of cesium and strontium can be used, with certain limitations, to assess the radiological safety of the soils of Ukraine. It is shown that the behavior of cesium and strontium isotopes, including radioactive ones, in the plant-soil chain is determined by the behavior of their non-isotopic potassium and calcium carriers, respectively. The gradation of the studied soils of Ukraine according to the biological availability of cesium and strontium was carried out in order to assess the radiological safety of the soils of Ukraine. Maps of the biological availability of cesium and strontium in the investigated agro-landscapes (agricultural lands and pastures) in the zones of influence of potentially dangerous nuclear fuel cycle facilities were constructed. Critical regions, which characterized by high migration of radionuclides between the elements of agrobiocenoses, are highlighted. Guidelines for assessing the radiological safety of soils based on the biological availability of stable isotopes of cesium and strontium, with further interpretation of the obtained estimates in the form of cartographic data were prepared.
