As a result of the operation of the nuclear power plant, no greenhouse gases are produced, which affect climate change. The Paris Climate Conference recognized nuclear power as an industry that has a positive impact on environmental well-being, particularly as a producer of low-carbon energy. Regarding the emissions generated during the entire life cycle of the installation, nuclear energy is one of the cleanest sources of electrical energy in terms of environmental impact, and among all types of generation, CO2 emissions are almost 80 times less than coal generation, 4 times less than solar, and 2 times less than hydro generation and has the same values as wind generation. The results of the work can be widely used in the operating units of nuclear power plants of Ukraine. To date, 15 power units have been installed at four existing nuclear power plants in Ukraine, 13 of which are VVER 1000 with an installed capacity of 1000 MWh, therefore it is advisable to install electrolysis units with an electrical capacity of 1 GW. Taking into account the average annual rate of utilization of the installed capacity of NPP power units, such electrolysis units can be installed in the number of 3-4 units (that is, with a total electrical capacity of 3-4 GW) while ensuring the export potential of ecologically clean hydrogen in the short term in accordance with the "Green Hydrogen Initiative 2x40 GWt" and the Draft Plan for the Recovery of Ukraine, regarding the "Energy Security" section, presented by the National Council for the Recovery of Ukraine from the Consequences of War on July 4, 2022.
