A predictive model was developed on the basis of known TKD to determine the temperatures of the beginning of the bainite transformation and the cooling rate to obtain bainite with the achievement of hardness according to the NTD requirements for high-strength rails. Production of experimental steel ingots up to 10 kg with various alloying systems in laboratory conditions. The influence of small fluctuations in the content of chemical elements was established and the regularities of the formation of the phase composition under different cooling conditions (environment, section) were calculated. As a result of this simulation, the influence of chemical composition was determined in the ranges of carbon content 0.28...0.58%, manganese 0.81...1.41%, silicon 0.89...1.57%, molybdenum 0.1...0.5 %, nickel 0.1...0.17% per structural state for different cooling rates. According to the results of laboratory studies, the following chemical composition, % by mass, is recommended for experimental and industrial testing of the production of railway rails: C=0.37-0.39; Si=1.11-1.5; Mn = 1.35-1.60; Cr = 0.8-1.2; Mo 0.19-0.22; Ni ≤ 0.04; V=0.15-0.24%, which makes it possible to achieve a set of mechanical properties that exceeds the requirements for steel, which is stipulated by DSTU 4344:2004 and EN 13674:1-2011.
