The subject of the study is the legal basis of the organization and activity of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in the aspect of their improvement. The purpose of the work consists in the scientific and theoretical determination of a complex of problematic issues of legal regulation of the organization and activities of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and the development of recommendations for their solution. In the course of the research, results were obtained, including: – the peculiarities of the national legislation of certain foreign countries regarding the regulation of the status, tasks and functions of the Armed Forces, the procedure and grounds for their use were analyzed; - the peculiarities of the national legislation on the regulation of the status, tasks and functions of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, the procedure and grounds for their use were analyzed and highlighted; the scientific-theoretical aspects and legal bases of the implementation of the powers of the President of Ukraine as the Supreme Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine are considered; – a comparative analysis of the powers of the Commander-in-Chief in certain foreign countries and the peculiarities of the mechanism of their implementation was carried out, and a positive experience that is relevant and acceptable for Ukraine was highlighted. In the course of the research work, a project of the Law of Ukraine "On Amendments to Certain Legislative Acts of Ukraine on Improving the Legal Foundations of the Organization and Activity of the Armed Forces of Ukraine" was developed.
