The culturological, linguistic and historical aspects of social resilience are considered. The phenomenon of social resilience is defined as inner and outer abilities of a subject to train and act for overcoming, adapting, transforming and achieving welfare in the face of threats to stability, life, development and personal vulnerability. The term system “resilience and vulnerability, welfare and sustainability” is interpreted with compiling a topical glossary. Within Ukrainian folk ballads, social resilience is treated via national symbols, origin ideas, notion “native – foreign”. People’s mode of life, moral and ethical principles, Cossack ideals ensure the prominent position of Ukraine among European countries. Through the COCA corpus analysis, the concept of resilience is regarded as pragmatical intention to promote common good. Factors of democratic and authoritarian government for the social resilience increase are arranged in the UK, Germany and USSR supplies during the Second World War (1939–1945).
