Registration Date 16-01-2023 Organization Institute of Pedagogy of the National Academy of Pedagogical Sciences of Ukraine popup.description2 In the reporting year: the semantic links between the views on the national question of Ukrainian scientists, public and educational figures (the first half of the 19th cen.- the beginning of the 20th cen., reflected in their pedagogical and journalistic works, reports, literary works are highlighted. Based on the justified chronotopic dependence of the meaning of the concept of "national idea", it was determined and proved that Ukrainians in the mentioned historical period formed 3 trends in the field of national building –- educational and developmental (influence on the level of literacy and cultural development of the Ukrainian population of the sub-Russian lands), protective and memorial (ethnographic, ethnological researches) and artistic and literary (creation of national samples of spiritual culture). They intertwined in the development of two spiritual and cultural growth factors of the “instinct of national construction”: the first is the preservation of the national, that is, the Ukrainian language (attempts to introduce elementary education (the creation of national ABC-books, folk (primary) and Sunday schools); ethnographic, ethnological studies); the second - the revival and spread of the Ukrainian language by means of creating Ukrainian-language fiction (literature, poetry), which also carried didactic functions, journalism, expansion of the commonly used functions of the Ukrainian language (religion, science, legal proceedings). It is proved that the Ukrainian philosophical and pedagogical thought in the period of the first half of the 19th cen. – the beginning of the 20th cen., which developed within the framework of scientific and educational institutions and performed a human-creative function in culture, was characterized by a tendency to create the foundations of the philosophy of upbringing and education, which became the framework of modern pedagogical constructions.
