Karazin Kharkiv National University popup.description2  The territories in the north-east of the Kharkiv region, where the creation of the Eastern Steppe National Nature Park is planned, were significantly affected by hostilities during the full-scale invasion of the Russian Federation and Russian occupation. The direct and indirect effects of the events on the state of territories valuable from the point of view of nature protection are analyzed. The main impacts are, in addition to direct destruction due to shelling, fires and pollution during hostilities, indirect impacts. Among them are the abandonment of a part of arable and pasture land, changes in terms of cultivation of arable land and agrotechnical facilities, changes in rural crops and pasture load, uncontrolled felling of forests, the appearance of a large number of homeless animals, a ban on hunting, etc. The long-term impact of these changes needs to be studied, which has been initiated at this stage of the work.
