To determine the most effective tools in order to create favorable conditions for realizing the potential productivity of modern varieties of alfalfa. The highest productivity per 1 ha of crop rotation area – 454.6 GJ of gross energy was provided by alfalfa of the 2nd year of use under shelf-based main tillage with a loosening depth of 20-22 cm. Close in terms of productivity was the system of multi-depth shelf-less tillage in crop rotation, where gross energy output was 421.3 GJ. The use of a shallow single-depth system had a negative effect on the productivity of alfalfa in the second year of use, reducing its level of productivity to 404.9 GJ.
