The purpose of the study: to establish the scientific and technical basis of the application of the effect of strong interaction of electromagnetic radiation with thin fibers in science and technology (including in the military). Research methods: diffraction theory, methods of measuring the absorption and scattering of electromagnetic radiation by targets, methods of measuring the temperature of thin fibers. Peculiarities of diffraction of electromagnetic radiation on metal wires by normal wave incidence were investigated. The nature of the effect of strong absorption and scattering by thin wires of microwave and IR radiation and the conditions under which this effect manifests itself have been established. This is building the experimental setting. The results of research can be used to transmit the energy of electromagnetic radiation to small targets without focusing the beam, to create protective screens in the microwave range.
