Determination of obstacles, formation of precautionary measures, conditions and restrictions for the mass introduction of heat pump units (HPU) for distrsct heating systems. Determining the directions and scope of the use of thermal energy in regional DHSs using local sources of low-potential heat (LPH). For the first time in Ukraine, forecasts of the development of the structure of the DHSs for the period up to 2050 have been developed, namely: a forecast of demand for thermal energy, forecasts of fuel balances and forecasts of changes in the generation structure under various scenarios, which differ in that they take into account Ukraine's obligations regarding decarbonization its economy. A new methodical approach has been developed in terms of assessing the potential of LPH to ensure the work of HPUs of regional DHSs, which differs from the existing ones in that it takes into account the coverage of the DHS region and the possibilities of HPUs regarding access to LPHs. According to this approach, the composition of LPHs was determined and their potential was assessed by regions of Ukraine. Obstacles are identified and preventive measures are proposed for the mass introduction of HPUs in the DHSs of Ukraine. The possibilities of using HPUs as regulatory consumers for their provision of auxiliary services to the UES of Ukraine have been assessed and conditions have been determined. Modeling of the use of HPU in the DHS was carried out and a technical and economic justification was prepared. Recommendations on the location of HPU in the DHS have been prepared. A plan for their implementation by year with an estimate of investment costs has been developed. This will make it possible to use this information during the preparation of plans for the reconstruction and modernization of the DHSs of Ukraine at the state level and heat supply schemes for settlements at the regional level.
