Purpose: To develop methods of obtaining biotechnological plants of winter wheat with an increased level of resistance to water deficit - the starting material for creating drought-resistant varieties. The results. Methods of Agrobacterium-mediated introduction of foreign DNA into the genome of winter wheat have been developed. Genetically modified plants with an additional copy of the ornithine aminotransferase gene and a suppressor of the proline dehydrogenase gene were obtained. It is shown that the result of RNA interference of the proline dehydrogenase gene is a partial decrease in the activity of the enzyme, which helps to increase the resistance to osmotic stress of genetically modified plants due to an increase in the content of free proline. Biotechnological plants with a moisture deficit created by the cessation of irrigation in the conditions of the vegetation experiment had better parameters of the photosynthetic system, higher integral indicators of stability and were characterized by better indicators of the crop structure in comparison with the original form. It was established that wheat plants with an additional copy of the ornithine-δ-aminotransferase gene are characterized by increased activity of the OAT enzyme, but do not significantly differ from plants of the original variety in the content of free L-proline. At the same time, strengthening the expression of the oat gene causes the formation of a larger number of productive stems and the development of a powerful root system in genetically modified plants. Improvements in growth indicators lead to an increase in the ability of plants to grow in conditions of water deficit. Based on the materials of the NDR, 1 monograph, 1 utility model patent, 35 articles and 39 abstracts of reports Key words: wheat, drought, proline, osmotic stress, productivity, Agrobacterium-mediated transformation Product Description popup.authors Bronnikova Larisa Ivanivna Komisarenko Alla Grugorivna Mykhalska Svitlana I.
