It is shown that catalysts based on SnО2-ZnO/Al2O3, synthesized by a simple impregnation method, under optimal conditions provide 70% yield of methyl lactate, which is a precursor for obtaining polylactide. Vapor-phase oxidation of a 20% mixture of propylene glycol and methanol with air oxygen on a supported CeO2/Al2O3 catalyst at 210-220°C yielded methyl lactate with a yield of up to 70 wt.%. The reaction of the double cyclodehydration of D-sorbitol to isosorbitol, which is used for the production of biodegradable polymers, on sulfocationites in a vacuum (150-170 mbar) without a solvent was studied. It has been shown that sulfocationites Amberlyst 15 and KU-2-8 effectively catalyze the double cyclodehydration of D-sorbitol to isosorbide at 120-140°C in a batch reactor and provide 78-88% yield of isosorbide with complete conversion of sorbitol at 140°C in 3 hours. The catalytic conversion of wheat starch into butyl glycoside, which is a biodegradable surface-active substance, was studied on sulfocationite Amberlyst-15 in a rotary autoclave at 120-130°C for 4-6 hours, using a 15% suspension in the corresponding alcohol. It was found that at 130°C for 6 hours, with a mass ratio of catalyst to starch of 1:3.5, the yield of butyl glycosides is 83%.
