Registration Date 23-01-2023 Organization M.G.Kholodny Institute of Botany NASU popup.description2 1. Report on the project: 112 p., 50 figs., 3 tables, 90 literary sources. Object of research: common oak (Quercus robur L.), red oak (Quercus rubra L.) Methods: light, confocal and electron microscopy, infrared gas analysis, methods of biochemistry and molecular biology, infrared gas analysis, thermal imaging. The aim of the work was to reveal informative structural and functional signs of Q. robur resistance to drought and high temperature on the basis of complex studies of leaves of trees growing in different climatic zones - in the optimal conditions of the Forest Steppe and in the coenotic and ecological range limits in the arid Steppe. The project is aimed at solving the problem of the stability of plants under the influence of adverse changes in environmental factors. The tasks of the work were comparative studies of micromorphological features of tree leaves (structures of surfaces and leaf parenchyma; ultrastructure of the photosynthetic apparatus; physiological and biochemical features (photosynthesis efficiency, pigment content, respiratory activity, HSP70 stress protein content); influence of exogenous phytohormones and growth regulators on the germination of acorns under conditions of drought and hyperthermia. The micromorphological, physiological, biochemical and molecular signs of resistance of Q.robur growing in arid conditions at the cenotic and ecological range were determined on the basis of an integrated approach range, in comparison with trees in the central part of the range, growing in optimal conditions of the Forest Steppe. Data were obtained on the efficiency of photosynthesis, the content of pigments, respiratory activity, transpiration, the content of the stress protein HSP70, the ultrastructural characteristics of leaves, as well as effects of exogenous phytohormones and growth regulator N-hexanoyl-L-homoserine lactone on acorn germination under conditions of drought and hyperthermia.
