EXTREME RUNOFF, LOW FLOW, RAIN AND SPRING FLOODS, MODELING, FORECASTING, DROUGHT, CLIMATE CHANGE The object of research is the maximum and minimum runoff of medium and small rivers in the South of Ukraine (basins of the lower Danube, Dniester, Dnieper, Southern Bug, and Seversky Donets, Priazovye River). The purpose of the work is to study the formation of extreme high and low runoff of rivers in southern Ukraine in climate change and substantiate a comprehensive scientific and methodological basis for determining the probability and forecast runoff during floods and lows, which will assess hydrological and environmental risks and provide recommendations for taking into account the effects of climate change to improve socio-economic development and ensure sustainable water use in the study region. Research methods - theoretical analysis of hydrological processes and phenomena; statistical processing of hydrological characteristics; cluster analysis of climatic indicators; method of harmonic scales; geographical generalization of hydrometeorological quantities; spatial synoptic analysis of conditions for the formation of significant floods and long dry periods. The obtained results and their novelty - an analysis of the physical and geographical conditions of the formation of extreme (flood and low flow) runoff of the rivers of the South of Ukraine in modern climate conditions and water regime; an analytical review was carried out, a complex method of probabilistic and predictive modeling of extreme hydrological phenomena (maximum flow of floods and minimum flow) on the rivers of Southern Ukraine was justified and implemented, taking into account the initial data of recent years.
