The project studied the interaction between particles in a nematic or lyotropic matrix and their effect on the structure of a liquid crystal (LC). The order parameter, birefringence and dichroism induced by short constant field pulses or alternating field pulses in an isotropic colloidal suspension of Pigment Red 176 nanorods were measured in dodecan weremeasured. A number of cholesteric lyotropic chromonic liquid crystal systems were created by introducing small-sized chiral molecules with different lipophilicity (logP > 0 and logP < 0) into the initial solution, and the phase behavior and influence of impurities on the pitch of the cholesteric helix of the system were investigated. For the first time, the photovoltaic effect was investigated in lyotropic LCDs of cadmium octanoate, as well as in their nanocomposites with CdS nanoparticles (NPs). It was established that the enhancement of the light-induced rotational moment of the nematic liquid crystal (NLC) director by adding dye molecules exhibits a non-trivial angular dependence and a two-photon character. The temperature behavior of the mobility of bacteria in the nematic liquid crystal in the entire range of the nematic phase was investigated. Experimental studies were supported by theoretical descriptions of physical processes in anisotropic colloidal systems. The obtained results are expected to be used for the development of practical recommendations and the creation of new organic materials and competitive devices. 64 articles were published and 1 doctoral thesis were defended, State Prize of Ukraine was received.
