The object of the study is the incidence of intestinal parasitosis, infestation of the adult population and patients with gastrointestinal tract diseases, clinical data and results of instrumental and laboratory studies of patients with gastrointestinal tract diseases. The purpose of the study is to compare the rates of infestation and the species composition of intestinal parasites in adults examined for diagnostic purposes and patients with gastrointestinal diseases. According to official statistics, over the last ten years in Ukraine, a clear trend towards a decrease in the incidence of intestinal parasitosis, in particular ascariasis by 1.7 times and giardiasis by 3.4 times, with relatively stable incidence rates of blastocystosis has been noted. The average rate of infestation of the adult population of Ukraine for 20010-2019 was: helminths – 0.48%, protozoa – 0.62%. According to the data of our own research, when examining the adult population for diagnostic purposes, the frequency of detection of intestinal parasitosis was significantly higher than the average indicators for Ukraine and amounted to 20.9%. Among all positive findings of intestinal parasites Blastocystis spp. accounted for more than 90%. A parasitological examination of 148 adults and 88 patients with diseases of the gastrointestinal tract was carried out. The rate of invasion of patients with gastrointestinal pathology was higher than that of adults examined for diagnostic purposes (39.8% and 20.9%, p<0.05). The frequency of detection of BI was the highest in GBS diseases - 75%, the lowest - in diseases of the upper gastrointestinal tract - 18.8%, in patients with PCOS in general, BI was established in 28.1% of cases. No specific changes in clinical and laboratory indicators were found in patients with gastrointestinal diseases and BI and in their absence.
