The purpose of the research: To determine the race-specific resistance of millet source material against an artificial infectious background and to create high-yielding millet varieties with a short growing season (75-85 days), complex resistance to smut and melanosis in combination with other economically valuable crop traits to increase grain production and improve its food and feed qualities. Research methods: field, laboratory, statistical. Main results of the research: according to the 2022 milestone, new recombinant genotypes were identified for further development, combining a high level of productivity with traits of high technological qualities of grain, lodging resistance and group race-specific resistance to smut. In terms of yield, grain processing qualities, resistance to lodging and melanosis, 11 early and mid-season lines in the competitive variety trial and 4 lines in the preliminary variety trial were identified in the nurseries of the 2022 variety trials, which are superior to the standard in terms of a set of search traits.
